Brendan is a national real-time reporter with McClatchy News, publisher of 30 daily newspapers across the U.S., including the Miami Herald, the Charlotte Observer and the Sacramento Bee. He primarily covers politics, though he also has experience working a number of other beats, including international news, health care, and courts and crime.

Prior to joining McClatchy, he received a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University’s School of Journalism. While studying, he freelanced for several New York City news outlets, including the Village Voice, the Hudson Reporter and the West Side Rag.

Before graduate school, he worked as a media relations associate for the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank in Washington, D.C. While there, he fielded press requests, edited opinion pieces and led media briefings.

Brendan received his Bachelor’s in Political Science from Southern Connecticut State University, where he was a member of the honors college and class president.

He grew up in Wethersfield, Connecticut, a quiet town once known for its world-famous red onions and the occasional witch trial. He currently lives in New York City.
